Speyer! - UPDATED WITH PHOTOS AND VIDEO

What a GREAT day we had today in Speyer! Two concerts in beautiful settings will make memories to last a lifetime. The weather was perfect, 70 degrees (F) and sunny all day. Our day started with a morning church service at the nearly 1,000 year old Speyer Dom (Cathedral). The acoustics are incredible in the Dom, with an 8-second delay/echo; it was  an amazing experience for our students. The Orchestra performed in the Mass as special guest musicians and the Vatican's Ambassador to Germany was also a special guest in attendance.

After the Mass we moved a few blocks to the "Wooden Church" or Trinity Church to drop off our instruments for a few hours and see the town and eat lunch. Students went with their German hosts and got a local's perspective on this beautiful old town.

After some sightseeing we returned to the Trinity Church for a sound check and rehearsal. Our concert there was very well-attended and well-received.

Here is a short video from our rehearsal/sound check.

We only have one more performance tomorrow, (Monday) after that it is all about seeing the local sights and getting to know our new German friends better. Tomorrow both myself and our tour photographer will have time to get more photos and updates to you. Check back again soon!
